Labrador CMS Presents Five New Features

Explore the latest updates in Labrador CMS, designed with the modern journalist and reader in mind, focussing on the latest trends such as mobile storytelling and AI

Published Modified

At Labrador CMS, we always keep journalists and readers in mind when creating new features. We are also constantly adapting to the latest trends in the media industry. That is why we have collaborated with Mario Garcia, a leading media designer known for his work with nearly 800 online newspapers and the author of the book AI: The Next Revolution in Content Creation. A key insight from the work done with Mario is the continued importance of mobile friendly storytelling. Some of the features below are inspired by his insights.

Labrador Live Studio

Editorial teams can now create live studios in Labrador CMS using the “Live Feed” element. This element can display notices, article teasers, and images. Build a studio around this element with related articles, factboxes, etc. Notices matching tags are automatically displayed, and new or updated notices are shown to end users if the “live” feature is enabled.  For the Labrador CMS users familiar with our Freshdesk system, a complete user guide is here. All the others can simply access our Journalist's Guide.

We've recently published an inspiring story on our customer Khrono.no who has already implemented this feature. Read their whole story here

Grid Element

The new grid element allows you to arrange images, videos, text, and markup field into a clean, organized grid layout.

You can use this feature to improve front-page article teasers and create a more dynamic visual experience. The grid element supports the following content elements: image, graphic, youtube (with autoplay), text multiline, text title, text subtitle and markup. Watch our short demo video or visit one of our test sites to see this in action. The Freshdesk user guide is also available for more information.

Infinite Scroll on Front Pages

A highly requested feature, infinite scroll is now available for front pages and specified articles. As users scroll down, more articles will load automatically. You can control which pages and tagged articles use this feature and customize the content and layout at any time. Check the Freshdesk user guide for details, or view an example on one of our test sites.

Autosizing of Titles

We’ve added automatic font resizing for article teaser titles. This ensures the text fits neatly within its block by adjusting the size and line breaks as needed. You can enable this feature in the admin panel under text options and customize the settings for each front page.

If needed, you can disable autosizing for individual teasers. When enabled, other styling options for the title will be disabled, and manual line breaks can be added using Shift+Enter. Visit the Admin panel > Text options for more details.

AI Smart Charts

Labrador AI now helps you create charts directly from your article’s relevant data. Simply drag and drop the chart element and let the AI generate a line, bar, pie, or doughnut chart. You can also manually input TSV data for more control using the settings panel. Explore the possibilities with this powerful tool to bring your data to life.

Aside from the presented five feature, Labrador CMS has released several others features. All of our customer can expect further information and help in implementing and using the newest offering of the system.
